Boys and Girls Move to 4-0 in Win Over Foxboro
In their last home meet for cross country, the seniors looked to finish off strong on their home course. In the JV race, Nathan Traut and Michael Williams were on each other’s heels with nobody else in sight by the very first turn. Finishing only 3 seconds apart was Traut and Williams, followed by 19 other Sharon runners before the 1st Foxboro runner came in. The girls side was once again led by freshman Juliette Tao with classmates Vaniea Amin and Maria Gallant taking 3rd and 4th. Closely behind them was a slew of Sharon runners, consisting of Ren, Murthy, Davenport, Chaudhari, and Chen.
Windy, cloudy, and quiet. The boys race saw Foxboro frontrunner land a decisive 1st, but he was followed by 7 Sharon Eagles. James Kong took the race out hard, finishing in 2nd followed by the pack of Sharon juniors: Starovoytov, Saks, Reddy. Rounding out the 7 Sharon finishers was senior Jacob Dubin, sophomore Balint Mihajlovits, and junior Alex Tao. Sharon continued its undefeated season, improving to 4-0, winning 20-43.
Girls Varsity was a true nail-biter. With Foxboro phenom Abby Hassman out hard the 1st mile, the Eagles could not catch her. Sophomore Daphne Theiler broke away from her usual trio to take 2nd place overall while the senior captains, Eliana Boxerman and Juliana Dudziak, came in not far behind together. Margaret Li captured the 6th spot, while Sierra Robison and Berta Faktorovich solidified the win with huge races by snagging the 8th and 9th places respectively, allowing Sharon to continue its undefeated season, improving to 4-0. The Eagles won 23-34.
Race of the Day:
Boys- James Chen, Evan Gray, Jason Xiong
Girls- Deepti Murthy, Sierra Robison, Daphne Theiler

Eagles Take Down Canton
The Eagles visited Pequitside Farm Wednesday after the long weekend where they faced the Canton Bulldogs in a match of blood, sweat, and mud; the race course having been rained on for the hours leading up to the meet, so this was a true XC race! A co-ed JV race was followed by a Varsity boys, then a Varsity girls race.
A delay didn’t faze the Eagles. They persevered and took 12 out of the first 13 spots in 2.3mi the JV race. Coming around the first lap, Jacob Bleecker led the front Eagles pack, and he didn’t look back from there, earning his first win ever. On the girls side, Sharon's Juliette Tao was once again the 1st JV girl across the line. She finished in sub-20:00 fashion while teammates Maria Gallant and Irene Ren followed behind within 8 seconds of each other.
The Sharon boys were contested early on by Canton’s #1, 2 and 3 runners, but Canton soon found themselves outmatched by Sharon’s front pack through the 1.5-2.5 mile marks. Lead changes took place a couple of times as Jacob Dubin took out the 1st mile, then James Kong and Mark Starovoytov exchanged leads during the 2nd mile, and then the 3rd mile was joined by Bradley Weiss. Canton’s #1 found the lead spot in the closing 400 meters, but junior Mark Starovoytov showed his 800m speed in the closing 100m of the race to take 1st place. The Eagles finished taking spots 1,3,5,6,7,9 to continue their undefeated season, winning 19-43.
The girls were also eager to continue their undefeated season. From gun to tape, the Eagles front pack outshined their opponents once again with Theiler, Dudziak, and Boxerman leading the way. The girls came across the line together in 21:31. Canton took the next 2 spots, but Margaret Li came around the turn to finish in 23:31. Rebounding from an injury, Berta Faktorovich came in stride-to-stride with freshman Sierra Robison to finish the 3.03mi course in 23:53. Not far behind was Captain Kavya Anbarasu along with Julia Lin, who made the step up to Varsity. Sharon won 20-37 to improve to 3-0.
Race of the Day:
Boys- Jacob Bleecker, Max Goodman, Noah Tolentino
Girls- Berta Faktorovich, Sierra Robison, Dani Williams

Eagles Tackle Tough Conditions at Frank Kelley Invite
The Sharon Eagles traveled to the Crackerbarrel Fairgrounds in Wrentham for their first invitational of the season. Nearly 4,000 runners represented 100+ teams from around New England.
In the championship race, which combined the best runners of D1 and D2, Theiler and Dudziak remained side-by-side the whole way, pacing each other to impressive top 20 finishes, finishing 17th and 19th respectively.
The championship boys race had finishers Mark Starovoytov, James Kong, and Balint Mihajlovits coming in within 70 seconds of each other.
Sierra Robison led the Eagles in the 9/10 D1 girls 3k with Juliette Tao finishing only 14 seconds behind. Soon after, Vaniea Amin and Maria Gallant came down the shute while Kendall Davenport and Abha Chaudhari were inseparable until the last couple of meters.
In a race with 369 runners, Sharon had 17 Eagles toe the line of the 9/10 D1 boys 3k. Classmates Nathan Traut and Michael Williams fought back and forth the whole race, ultimately ending with Traut capturing a top 20 finish at 19th with Williams coming in just a couple seconds later for 27th. The Eagles had notable races run by Gosetty and Lessard, who finished neck-and-neck at the line.
As the sole Eagle in the 11/12 D1 girls 3k, Deepti Murthy edged out her Medford competitor by just 0.3 seconds at the finish.
The upperclassmen ran an unfamiliar distance of 3km with Max Goodman finishing as the 1st Eagle with Noah Tolentino, James Chen, and Evan Gray following not far behind. Sharon finished with the trio of Shashank, Mahulkar, and Jakhro.
In the Open 5k, with an extra lap around the Wrentham course on an 80 degree fall day, Alex Tao led the Eagles in a sub-20 performance with underclassmen Reuben Chorney, Barry Spoto, and Matthew Faberman finished within 50 seconds of one another. Jason Xiong had a notable performance, fighting through every stride along the way.
Race of the Day:
Boys- Saketh Gosetty, Reyan Jakhro, Jason Xiong
Girls- Sierra Robison

Eagles Takes Down Tough NA Teams
The Eagles traveled to North Attleboro for their 2nd dual meet. Noah Tolentino jumped out to an early lead in the 1.7mi JV race. Soon after, Nathan Traut caught up, and finished strong to solidify the first JV spot and first career race win. After a few NA runners filed in after Traut, the Eagles were able to capture positions 7,8,9,10,11 with Singh, Xiong, Schnitzer, Nolan, and Gosetty. Juliette Tao led the girls JV race, earning another 1st place for herself. Not far behind was the pack of: Vaneia Amin, Irene Ren, Maria Gallant, Deepti Murthy taking spots 5, 6, 7, 8.
Running their first 5km of the season, the Sharon boys were ready to compete. Pack running helped the Eagles’ through the first ½ of the race with their top six runners staying in touch with NA’s #1 and #2. With a lot of back and forth, the top Eagles swapped places multiple times to demonstrate their depth as a team. Sprinting down the home stretch, Mark Star and Jordan Saks both dipped below 5:30 pace for the mostly-grass course. Following closely was Bradley Weiss and James Kong. Freshman phenom Michael Williams completed the course in a blistering 18:21 for a 10th place finish in his 1st ever varsity race.
The Sharon girls knew the meet would be competitive from the start. The front pack came through the 1st mile in 6:16 and didn’t seem to lose speed from there. Soon after, the Sharon trio of Theiler, Dudziak, and Boxerman broke away from NA’s #1. It is a guaranteed win in XC if a team has a 1-2-3 finish. Just like that, the girls rounded the corner onto the track to complete their first 5km of the season in impressive fashion. It was a race against the clock, and the coveted 20:00-mark was on the line. Final results: Daphne Theiler-19:54, Juliana Dudziak-19:55, and Eliana Boxerman-19:59. Yes, the Sharon Eagles, for the 1st time in school history had 3 girls not only sub-20 in a season, but in a single race! In a race-of-the-day performance Margaret Li fought line to line to secure the Eagles’ 4th spot (7th overall) with a 56-second improvement, achieving a PR of 21:10.
Races of the Day:
Boys- Reuben Chorney, Amit Ravikumar, Shashank Reddy
Girls- Vaneia Amin, Berta Faktorovich, Margaret Li

Boys and Girls Defeat Milford in Dual Meet Opener
In the 1st dual meet of the season, the Eagles faced the Scarlet Hawks on their home course. JV kicked off the day with 2 loops (1.95mi) on the trails at Sharon's Deb Sampson Park. The Eagles pushed in packs with the 1st pack of Michael Williams, Nathan Traut, Jacob Bleecker, and Adamya Singh coming within 40 seconds of each other to earn places 1-4. Spectators watched groups of Eagles cross the line together as pack running proved to work! Juliette Tao and Vaneia Amin took spots 1 and 2 in the Girls JV race. Behind them, the Eagles captured spots 5-9.
The varsity boys Eagles all took the race out hard, all opening the first mile between 5:20 and 5:35. Mark Starovoytov took a conservative approach to the race, gradually working his way up to the front and outpacing his fellow Eagles, but could not catch Milford's Maxwell Manor who led wire to wire. Sharon took places 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 with Mark Starovoytov, Bradley Weiss, Jordan Saks, James Kong, Jacob Dubin, Sidd Reddy, and Balint Mihajlovits. The Eagles won 26-33.
To describe the girls Varsity race as exciting is an understatement. As the race unfolded, the Eagles needed a 1-2-3 finish to secure the W, and 4 Milford Girls followed right behind the Eagle's pack the entire race, threatening to break it up at any moment. Led by sophomore stud Daphne Theiler, the trio of Theiler, Boxerman, Dudziak, prevailed in locking down the top 3 finishes within a second of each other. Margaret Li, Kavya Anbarasu, and Sierra Robison rounded out the top 10 finishes, with Sharon's Berta Faktorovich locking down the Eagle's last varsity spot to earn a 23-33 victory.
Races of the Day, an award given by the captains to those who had notable performances, were award to:
Boys- Kushal Chandrasekaran, Dash Huffman, Adamya Singh, Mark Star, Nathan Traut
Girls- Maria Gallant, Juliette Tao, Daphne Theiler

Eagles XC Has Strong Showing at Preseason Scramble
The 2nd Annual Preseason Scramble was hosted by Franklin High School at Dacey Field in Franklin, MA. There were 4 co-ed races: Varsity A, Varsity B, JV, and Freshman.
The 5 Sharon boys in the Varsity A race earned the #4,8,10,11,14. Mark Starovoytov led with the way with Saks, Dubin, and Reddy on his heels. On the girls side, Daphne Theiler and Eliana Boxerman delivered a 2-3 punch while Juliana Dudziak earned 7th place. Not too far behind was Margaret Li with a 26-second PR from last year and Utah-transfer Dani Williams.
Pack running served the Sharon boys well in the Varsity B race as Bradley Weiss and James Kong finished in 3rd and 5th respectively. It was Alex Tao’s XC debut while Jacob Bleecker and Barry Spoto made their own debuts on the varsity scene. Senior captain Kavya Anbarasu and Julia Lin to a 4-5 finish while Kendall Davenport made her XC debut and Abha Chaudhari PR’d by an incredible 1 minutes and 29 seconds from the previous year.
Matthew Faberman led the Eagles in the JV race while teammates Noah Tolentino and Robby Schnitzer were not far behind. Mitch Weiss improved last year’s time by 1 minute and 41 seconds. The sole Eagle from the girls side, Kelly Chen, improved last year’s time by 2 minutes and 9 seconds.
Running their 1st ever high school races, the freshmen showed a lot of potential as future Varsity Eagles. Neck and neck, Michael Williams and Nathan Traut sprinted down the home stretch for a 1-2 finish. Finishing strong from the cement onto the grass was Andrew Cheung. On the girls side, Sierra Robison ran a gutsy race, speeding to the front of the pack, while her classmates Juliette, Sophia, Vaneia, and Maria were not too far behind.

Boys-Andrew Cheung, Mitch Weiss, Michael Williams
Girls-Abha Chaudhari, Margaret Li
