Eagles Nest Athlete of the Week

 For two weeks running, the girls 4 x 100m relay featuring (l to r) Camille Henry, Jen Jaboin, Ali Kirsch, and Sara Gildersleeve, get the nod for Eagles Nest Athletes of the Week. The girls closed out their season by placing 5th at the New England Outdoor Interscholastic Track and Field Championships.

May 15, 2010 - Lowell, MA - Bentley senior Dan Darcy won the 800m at the New Balance High Performance Invitational, hosted by UMass-Lowell. Darcy prevailed over the 24-man field by 0.89 with his winning time of 1:52.21.
May 1, 2010 - Fairfax, VA - University of Delaware freshman Rachel Wasserman posted a 2:23.00 PR for 26th place overall at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, hosted by George Mason University.
May 1, 2010 - Medford, MA - MIT soph Ben Mattocks placed 17th in the 5000m with a time of 15:42.73 at the NE Division III Championships, held at Tufts University. The Engineers placed 2nd overall in team scoring.
May 1, 2010 - Easton, MA - Bentley's Dan Darcy shattered the 1500m school record by a whopping 1.34 seconds on his way to a third place finish at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, hosted by Stonehill College. Darcy's time of 3:51.01 also represented a 1.56 improvement over his previous NCAA Division II provisional qualifying effort. Bentley's men's team placed 6th overall.
April 24, 2010 - Springfield, MA - Sophomore Ben Mattocks placed 4th in the 1500m for MIT at the NEWMAC Championships held at Springfield College. Mattocks posted a 4:02.85. The Engineers captured its 10th consecutive NEWMAC team title.

April 24, 2010 - Darmouth, MA -
Freshman Corsair Scott Connolly posted a season best 1:59.56 in the 800m at the Little East Conference & New England Alliance Championships, hosted by UM-Dartmouth. Connolly's time was good for 3rd place in the Little East Conference (5th - Alliance Ch.). The Corsairs finished third in the Little East as a team behind So. Maine and Keene State.

April 23, 2010 - Easton, MA - WOW! Bentley University senior Dan Darcy threw down a seriously fast 1:52.11 to win the 800m at Stonehill College's Skyhawk Invitational. Darcy's time positions him as 12th nationally on the NCAA Division 2 performance list at this point in the season. Darcy has now qualified provisionally for the NCAA Div. 2 Championships in both the 800m and 1500m.
April 23, 2010 - West Chester, PA - Freshman Rachel Wasserman placed 3rd out of 32 in the 800m at the West Chester Invitational, hosted by WCU. Wasserman covered the distance in a very respectable 2:24.46 for the Blue Hens.
April 17, 2010 - Newark, DE - Frosh Blue Hen Rachel Wasserman ran a workmanlike 63.87 at the Delaware Open II Meet, hosted by the University of Delaware. Wasserman also ran a leg on a 4 x 400m relay for UD (4:27.04).
April 17, 2010 - New London, CT - The UMass-Dartmouth men's team placed 2nd overall at the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College. Under difficult conditions, freshman Corsair Scott Connolly ran a 2:01.34 for 9th place out of 41 suited up. Connolly also ran a 2:03 leg on the winning 4 x 800m relay (8:22.86).

April 16, 2010 - Princeton, NJ - Dan Darcy broke the Bentley University 1500m school record at the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton University. His time of 3:52.57 lowered the 7-year old school record by 0.97. However teammate Curtis Trueb in a subsequent heat, bettered Darcy by 0.22 to re-set the new school mark. Darcy's previous PR at 1500m was 3:55.0. Darcy qualifed provisionally for the NCAA Division II Championships.

April 10, 2010 - Lowell, MA - Bentley senior Dan Darcy placed 2nd in the 800m at the George Davis Invitational, hosted by UMass-Lowell.  Darcy, at 1:55.49, was denied the win by just 0.40 by fellow Falcon Curtis Trueb.
April 10, 2010 - Cambridge, MA - MIT sophomore Ben Mattocks competed in the 5000m at a tri-meet against Colby College and Bates College. Mattocks clocked a 15:23.29 to place 2nd to help MIT secure the team win.
April 10, 2010 - North Darmouth, MA - Frosh Scott Connolly posted a 2:03.06 on his way to a 4th place finish at the Corsair Invitational, hosted by UMass-Dartmouth. UMass-Dartmouth went on to take the team title.

April 3, 2010 - Storrs, CT - Bentley senior middle distance runner Dan Darcy had a strong performance at the UConn Alumni Invitational. Darcy threw down a 1:55.06 in the 800m to take 3rd place out of 21 competitors.
April 3, 2010 - Troy, NY - MIT sophomore Ben Mattocks placed 3rd out of 15 competitors in the Engineers Cup 1500m, hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Mattocks covered the distance in 4:08.11.

April 3, 2010 - N. Smithfield, RI - Freshman Corsair Scott Connolly posted a 2:00.82 in the 800m at the Bryant U. Invitational. Connolly placed 8th in the 23-man field for UMASS-Dartmouth.

March 27, 2010 - Towson, MD - Frosh Rachel Wasserman ran a respectable 2:26.77 for the U. Delaware Blue Hens at the Towson University T & F Invitational.  Wasserman's time earned her 11th place out of 37 competitors. The women's team posted six wins on the day.
March 27, 2010 - Westfield, MA - Freshman Scott Connolly opened the spring season with a 2:03.29 800m at the Jerry Gravel Invitational, hosted by Westfield State. Connolly finished middle of the pack at 26th for the UMASS-Dartmouth Corsairs.

March 27, 2010 - Raleigh, NC - Bentley senior Dan Darcy competed in the 1500m at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State. Darcy placed 9th overall with a competitive time of 3:55.97.
March 26, 2010 - Lexington, VA - MIT sophomore Ben Mattocks paced a 15:35.52 5000m at the Washington & Lee University Spring Carnival. Mattocks placed 18th out of a field of 42.
March 20, 2010 - West Chester, PA - In a strong showing to open the spring season, University of Delaware freshman Rachel Wasserman threw down a 2:23.49 in the 800m at the Golden Ram Invitational, hosted by West Chester University. Her time was good enough to capture 4th place among a field of 35 competitors. Wasserman also ran a leg in the 4 x 400m relay (4:21.56) for the Blue Hens.
February 20, 2010 - Lewiston, ME - MIT sophomore Ben Mattocks placed 12th in the New England Division 3 Indoor Championships at 3000m. Mattocks posted an 8:51.43. The Engineers went on to claim its 10th NE Div. 3 Championship title.
February 18, 2010 - Boston, MA - Bentley senior Dan Darcy ran a 4:33.66 in the Mile at the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Championship for the the Falcons. Darcy placed 12th overall.

February 14, 2010 - Boston, MA - MIT sophomore Ben Mattocks placed 67th out of 191 runners competing in the Valentine Invitational 3000m, hosted by Boston University. Mattocks ran an 8:41.71 PR for the Engineers. Bentley senior Dan Darcy posted a 4:11.08 in the Mile, good for 21st out of a field of 203 competitors.
February 13, 2010 - Ottawa, ON - Redmen freshman Chris Peng posted a 9.60 for McGill University in the 60m Hurdles at the 2010 Ottawa Winter Nationals.

February 6, 2010 - Cambridge, MA - Sophomore Ben Mattocks placed 4th in the 3000m at a tri-meet hosted by the MIT Engineers. Competing against Williams College and the US Coast Guard Academy, Mattocks covered the distance in 8:53.06. MIT secured the team victory.
January 30, 2010 - Brunswick, ME - MIT sophomore Ben Mattocks placed 4th in the Mile at the Bowdoin Invitational. Mattocks hit the tape at 4:24.82. MIT took the overall team honors over Springfield, Bowdoin, Tufts, and Colby.
January 30, 2010 - Montreal QC, Canada - Freshman Chris Peng competed in the High Jump at the 15th annual McGill Team Challenge. Peng cleared 1.70m (5' 7") for the McGill Redmen.
January 30, 2010 - Granville, OH - Freshman Alex Kutana and his relay mates placed 3rd (1:33.39) for Oberlin College in the 4 x 200m at the North Coast AC Relays, hosted by Dension University.

January 24, 2010 - Cambridge, MA - Bentley senior Dan Darcy clocked an impressive 3rd place time of 4:10.63 in the Championship Mile at the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational, hosted by Harvard University.

January 23, 2010 - Springfield, MA - UMass-Dartmouth freshman middle-distance runner Scott Connolly worked uptempo in the 600m at the Springfield 5-Way. Connolly posted a 1:30.73.

January 23, 2010 - Cambridge, MA - MIT sophomore Ben Mattocks clocked a 9:04.22 in the 3000m for a win at the MIT Coed Invitational. 
January 23, 2010 - Berea, OH - Oberlin's Alex Kutana competed in the Baldwin-Wallace Mid-January Invite held at the Lou Higgins Center.  Kutana posted a 24.61 in the 200m for 20th place in the 41-man field. Along with a leap of 39' 6" (12.04m) in the TJ, Kutana ran a leg on the victorious 4 x 200m (1:33.05).
January 16, 2010 - Kingston, RI - Back from the break, UMass-Dartmouth freshman Scott Connolly competed at the Sorlein Memorial Invitational hosted by the University of Rhode Island. Connolly competed at 500m (1:13.64) and ran a leg on the Corsair's 4 x 400m relay (3:40.41).

January 16, 2010 - Cambridge, MA - In the indoor season's opener, MIT sophomore Ben Mattocks ran the 3000m in a tri-meet against Colby College and Bates College. Mattocks covered the distance in 9:01.80 for the Engineers.

January 15, 2010 - Oberlin, OH - Freshman Alex Kutana had a busy day for Oberlin College, as the Yeomen took on Thiel College at the Heisman Field House. Kutana competed in the 200m (25.35), LJ (5.32m / 17' 6.5"), TJ (12.09m / 39' 8") and 4 x 200m (1:34.36).

December 19, 2009 - Montreal QC, Canada - McGill University freshman Chris Peng made his first appearance as a Redmen at the Montreal Holiday Classic, held at the Tomlinson Fieldhouse by host McGill. Peng cleared 1.30m in the high jump.

December 11-12, 2009 - Kent, OH - Oberlin College freshman Alex Kutana triple jumped in his first collegiate meet at the Golden Flash Gala hosted by Kent State. Yeoman Kutana's best jump of the meet was 11.88m (38' 11.75") for 12th place in a field of 17.

December 5, 2009 - Boston, MA - Running on familiar ground, UMass-Dartmouth freshman Scott Connolly made his debut as a Corsair at the Jay Carisella T & F Invitational, held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center by host Northeastern University. Connolly posted a 2:02.26 in the Men's 800 Meter Run, taking 11th place overall among a field of 45 competitors.
